second starnd-twinspace activity "perfect holidays"
in this section our 6th graders had a scaffolded interview with their european partners through twinspace chat and skype
Dear students in love with Erasmus + project Discovering Europe, After discovering ten amazing European countries, singing their traditional songs and building replicas of their famous buildings, it is now time for you to ... take a break . YAY! You are allowed to day-dream about the perfect holidays that you would like to spend in any of these countries (or anywhere else in the world!) Since day-dreaming by yourself is no fun, you will be paired with another student (from another European country involved in our project). This means you will use as much English as possible in a little interview (asking and answering questions like the following):
1. In what part of the world would you like most to travel? These words may help you: Europe/Asia/Africa/North America/South America/ Australia
2. What country would you like to visit there? These words may help you: The UK/Slovenia/Greece/Poland/Catalonia/Italy/Finland/The Netherlands/Germany/Romania/any other country from any other part of the world
3. Why would you choose this particular continent/country? This word will definitely help you: because
4. What means of transport will you use to get there? These words may help you: by plane, by bus, by train, by ship,by motorbike, by car, on foot
5. When do you think it will be best to travel there? These words may help you: In winter/summer/autumn/winter
6. Why? This word will definitely help you: because
7. Who would you like to travel with? These words may help you: My family (members of the family: mother, father, sister, brother, grannie, grandpa, uncle, aunt, cousin)/ my friends
8. How much time would you like to spend in ....(the country/part of the world that you mentioned)? These words may help you: A few days, one week, a fortnight (2 weeks), 3 months, 4 years, an eternity
9. What would you like to visit there? These words may help you: Beautiful natural landscapes, castles, museums, etc.
10. What presents would you buy from...(the country/part of the world that you mentioned)? These words may help you: Something sweet, a music box, a traditional object, etc. Final notes for the students: a. You can use the questions and anwers above but you are also free to add any other ideas (about the location, the weather, the food etc.) b. If you think about your perfect holidays before the interview, you can be more relaxed and really enjoy it!
Ready, steady, begin day-dreaming!
